Contract Position
The National Building Museum seeks an organized and energetic event planner and educator to produce the Museum’s annual program, The Big Build on Saturday, October 12, 2019. This contract position will begin in early July and end no later than October 31, 2019.
Requirements:
- experience managing large events or festivals
- demonstrated experience working with a range of professionals from various fields
- skill in managing multiple tasks simultaneously
- understanding or interest in museum education
Working closely with the Museum’s Education, Development, Visitor Services, and Marketing departments, the contractor will manage 25-30 exhibitors from built environment fields, ensuring that exhibitor activities meet Museum criteria and standards for this program. Working as part of the Education Department, the Contractor will manage all production aspects of event, such as developing a floor plan, scheduling and adhering to production timeline, determining volunteer roles, managing exhibitors, creating copy for signage and printed materials, obtaining permits, assisting with outreach to new audiences, and assessing program elements for future planning.
The Big Build, one of the Museum’s signature programs, typically serves 4000-5000 visitors of all ages through special exhibitors and activities in the Museum’s Great Hall and outside the building.
