School’s Out Program: CANstruction Workshop
November 28 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm
At this hands-on workshop, participants will explore global architectural styles by viewing the CANstruction creations in the Great Hall. They’ll complete a scavenger hunt, choose a favorite structure and its origin, then return to the classroom to build their own version using cardboard and other materials. Recommended for ages 6+.
About CANstruction
CANstruction is a nationwide program raising awareness about hunger. In DC, the Washington Architectural Foundation hosts this design-build competition benefiting the Capital Area Food Bank. Architecture and design teams create large-scale sculptures from canned goods, displayed for one week in the Museum’s Great Hall before being donated to the CAFB. This year’s theme is “World Architecture” and runs November 23–December 1.
