Unique Experiences at the Skate Spectacular
Lightness of Strength: The Wave
Suspended in the Great Hall of the National Building Museum, The Wave is a 55-by-180-foot recycled aluminum space frame that demonstrates how advanced material logic and fabrication can shape the next generation of resilient architectural structures. Its lightness and strength reveal how engineering precision and design imagination can coexist in a single form.
Lightness of Strength: The Wave will be open from December 27, 2025, to February 8, 2026.
Special Programming and Events
In addition to daily skating sessions, the National Building Museum will offer a variety of after-hours programs and adult-focused events throughout the skating season. Evening programs provide extended skating time and opportunities for visitors to engage with the Museum in a festive, winter setting.
For youth programming, the Museum offers drop-in sessions and themed activities designed for children and families. These include creative workshops, movement-based experiences, and opportunities to combine skating with other family-friendly activities.
