Couple Grows with the Museum Over the Years
September 15, 2017
Peter and Erin Dwyer have been connected to the Museum since their first date, followed by their BIG Maze engagement proposal. We reached out to Peter get the story of the Museum’s most recent Family Members.Â
“Erin and I had our first date at the National Building Museum in the summer of 2013. We met in the atrium standing next to the fountain and proceeded to play mini-golf. The friendly competition of mini-golf on a unique and fun course made for a great first date. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and immediately made plans to see one another again.
The following summer, I decided to pop the question. As luck should have it, the Museum had decided upon a maze for their summer exhibit and I couldn’t think of a better place to propose. With the help of her boss and several museum security guards, I surprised Erin in the middle of the maze, down on one knee with roses in hand. After getting lost several times, she finally made it to me in the center and said yes! From then on, we knew that visiting the museum’s summer exhibit would forever be an annual tradition.
The following year, we returned from our honeymoon and went straight to The Beach. In 2016, we learned we were expecting twins the day we visited the The Icebergs exhibit. This year, we introduced our daughters, Rose and Molly, to our tradition with a family trip to The Hive.
We have had many exciting milestones over the past several years and the National Building Museum always seems to be at the center of it all. It will always be a special place in our lives and we thank the staff for their continued hard work making lasting memories for our family and many others.”
